Huelistic Health & Wellness

Care that starts with listening.

I grew up in Ohio and got my first adjustment at fourteen, which is around when I started to understand that how a body feels and what it can do are two different questions. I played soccer and basketball, and I spent enough time being told to walk it off that I'm careful now about saying that to anyone.

I went to Life University for my Doctor of Chiropractic and stayed for a Master's in Sports Health Science. I'm interested in how movement, load, recovery and tissue quality feed each other, and what happens when one of them is off long enough that the rest start compensating.

I opened Huelistic Health & Wellness in Roswell to practice the way I actually think about the body. I'd like to be the first place you call for anything musculoskeletal — early enough that the options are still good ones.

A few things I believe

Getting older changes recovery, not capability.

My mom will do a workout in the morning, weed the flower beds in the afternoon, and then not be able to stand up. Neither one was the problem. Doing both in a day was. That’s a scheduling and recovery issue more than a decline.

Bad joints usually aren’t inherited.

“My knees are bad, my mom’s knees were bad, her mom’s knees were bad” is one of the most common things I hear. Some conditions genuinely run in families; most sore knees are shared habits and shared expectations. I grew up believing I’d get the same hammer toes as the women in my family, then learned how the foot works and reversed the curling. I naturally have flat arches, so I worked on strengthening my feet, which improved the natural arch.

Thirty minutes on yourself is not a small thing.

A lot of the people I see are working, raising kids, and the first thing off the list was themselves. If you aren’t at your best, it’s hard to show up for anyone else at theirs. Sometimes the visit is the only half hour in someone’s day that’s about them, and I take that seriously.

The adjustment isn’t the most important part.

When I started out, my view of the care I provided was very adjustment-based and focused. A couple of years into practice, I see that as good of an adjuster as I am, it’s not the most important thing in someone’s wellness journey.

Outside the office, I'm usually trying new cafes, practicing the drums, hanging out with friends, or watching movies with my cats.
